Stardust has completely captured my imagination.
I've enjoyed Sandman like most, but to actually read Gaiman stretching his command of the written word has given me new respect for the. Comic book superstar.
Read it soon before it's spoiled by the film adaptation due out next month.

Finished cutting the trailer!
YES!
I spent most of this morning figuring out DVD Architect, so I could burn copies of the trailer for tonight's party. Then being the obsessive compulsive that I am...
You see I started off with just trying to get the trailer burned.
Did that.
Then I was like, "I should put that other thing I shot in the park on this..."
THEN I was like, "Oh, and that animatic would be good too."
Next thing I know, I was pulling screen captures from the trailer, making DVD menus, and then adding a song to play while the menu was up.
So...there went my day. And I was planning on rewarding myself to go see "Hot Fuzz."
Oh, well tomorrow maybe.
I like the trailer as much as a neurotic obsessive like myself can like it, but I believe I can toot my horn here and say that it's pretty good. I'll try to post up the trailer laters on.
I've got some discs to burn and then...It's off to Max's for Billy's going away party!

Here's a rough cut of the ending scene. I haven't done the color correction, evened out the sound, and the reason why the fade out at the end is so long is that's where I'll be inserting the ending credits. All in all, still pretty happy with it considering that Billy and I shot this whole sequence in less than 2 hours last night!
I was going to hold onto it until I finished tweaking it, but I was kind of psyched after seeing the raw footage, so enjoy!
Plus it makes a perfect good-bye vid for my bro, Billy! This one's for you, bro!

Here's a clip from the pick up shots I did.
It's always good when a physical test validates a theory that you have rattling around in your head.
Digital film making tools are a wonderful innovation, but sometimes nothing beats a well composed shot, with a good lens.
I shot this with Billy in literally 10 minutes.
I used at Nikkor 185mm fixed long lens, stop at F2.4, mounted on a fluid-effect tripod. I cranked up the frame rate to 60fps on the HVX to get the slow motion effect. That's right, I didn't even have to do anything in editing except correct the color balance on this one. I racked the focus myself without even using the follow focus! I was very proud of this one. It's not easy trying to time a rack focus, keep things in frame, and run a tripod all at the same time!!
It's really a shame that YouTube downgrades your footage to such a crappy level, I mean if you could see this in HD at 720p like I have on my computer monitor...man I'm telling you, it's awesome looking!
Billy of course did a great job of looking all suave and what not.
Wait until you see some of the other shots I got last night, they are straight up gorgeous.
Well, stayed up late downloading and watching the latest episode of "Heroes" (I am so addicted to this show) and now it's off to bed.

It's official! I just got the last of the pick-ups I needed tonight with Billy. Got some really gorgeous looking footage!
I don't think I'll have the whole film cut by Saturday in time for the party, so Billy suggested cutting together a trailer instead.
So a trailer it is!
I'll try to post up a clip or two of the footage I got tonight later on.

Here's a very rough cut for the opening scene.
The colors are all whacked out, but don't worry I'll fix it.
Also I used music here where there should be a bunch of newscaster dialogue, giving some exposition and setting up the story. The opening title credits will also be placed for this as well.
I'm in the process of figuring out what colors I want for "Billy's Office" in the film. I was thinking of making something pretty close to natural with a little style (a la "Veronica Mars") or going for a "24" look. Which one do you think?
Well off to go get the mic and boom which I forgot at Greg's place! DOH! More laters...

We finished shooting last night!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
Here's a clip I just cut last night before passing out from exhaustion...
I only have two video pick-ups, and three audio pick-ups I have to do with Billy on Tuesday night.
The crew was awesome! Not only did they kick butt, half the crew ended up being in the film!
Shout outs to; Mark "Big Kahuna" Gadia, Gene "Cinco" Huh, Greg, Brian, and Rachel! You guys were wonderful.
To the cast!
BIG YAYS!
Thanks to Matt aka Tiger Uppercut, and Christina aka "Lesbian Stalker #1." You were great showing up on such short notice, and really putting in such amazing effort and energy! Thank you so much you guys!
Rachel and Billy were also great of course! In addition to starring in this thing they were wonderful hosts. Billy is without a doubt...Da Man!
Special guest star Izzy! Yay! She pushed the boundaries of decency with her portrayal as a goth assistant to a private detective. :)
Max, what can I say? "THIS IS MALARKY!"
Gotta get back to work, but I figured I'd post this up real quick. Will be back later for more.

Okay, so I have just finished the first day of shooting on "The Green Candidate".....
Hahahahahha!
It was a hilariously awesome experience!
Will it be good?
Well, let's just say I am NOT expecting for it to be accepted to Cannes any day soon...
BUT!
It was one of the most wonderfully out of control, diasastarous, fun times I have ever had in my life!
It is settled, I am going to be a film maker until my dying day.
I want to give special thanks to my crew; Greg, Gene, Mark, and Rachel for being so fucking cool.
And for my cast; Christina, Rachel, Matt, Max, Terry, and our star Billy for being the coolest, kindest, and loveliest people that I have ever had the honor of sharing this insane experience with.
Seriously, big huge, fat hugs for all of you.
Rockstep On One,
Charlie
A pair of eyes that look at you and say, "I have just heard the most wonderful song, but I won't share it with you."
